The foreign male figures have contorted bodies “whether gyrating as part of a performance, hunched under a burden, or poised in a posture of menace or control.” In contrast to the fine features of the Han figures, the non-Han are exaggerated. They often have bulging eyes with large pupils that seem to stare at the viewer.
