BLACK LACQUER OPERA CHEST

Chests are popular for storage in ancient China. Small ones are placed on the table, and very large ones stand on the floor against a wall. In bedrooms, chests of different sizes are frequently stacked together with the smallest on top. This arrangement is not considered inconvenient. All sorts of things are stored in chests such as clothes in the bedroom, scrolls in the library, and food in the kitchen.
