Details

Its name in English is derived from its shape, which resembles a horseshoe, therefore we have obvious name Horseshoe-back Armchair. The horseshoe-back armchair was used in pairs in formal room settings. In banquet settings, they were markers of high status and were considered seats of honor. The round back chair exhibits one of the most artistic effects of traditional Ming style furniture - the quality called "roundness" or "wholeness"
