Made from porcelain and painted with under glaze blue decoration to show a continuous Mountainous river landscape with Confucian scholars on a promontory, fishermen in San Pans and rocky island retreats. The landscape is fringed with various trees including pine trees. The sky shows the sun setting with a skein of geese flying near. The brush pot is very well painted with excellent colour and the decoration is an excellent subject matter.
Description

Details

The Chinese were the first civilization to make ceramic pots. The earliest known pot has been dated back to 18,000 B.C. Commonly used for ceremonial purposes, Chinese peoples made these pottery vessels throughout the Neolithic period using clay found on the banks of the Yangtze River. The earliest ceramic Chinese pottery took on crude forms and was decorated with geometric patterns.
